The 11th Lesson

Patience!

The Human Resources Profession has taught me transferable skills that will be always be applicable no matter what career path I choose.

I’ll always explore new “jobs” but I prefer my HR career.  After being recruited for an HR role and an unexpected layoff during an acquisition, I found myself unemployed.  It hasn’t been an easy journey but I have had some great experiences along the way.  I have kept and open mind and had opportunities to learn.  I represented a major flooring chain, meeting with over 100 families in their homes.  Human behavior is unpredictable and often bizarre but didn’t really encounter anyone dangerous or nasty as friends and family suspected I would.  I also worked in a costume jewelry store for the holiday season in an upscale mall and found that household income is not always directly proportional to common sense. I just wanted to scream what the @*%&# is wrong with you?!

Working in HR has enabled me to be much more flexible, tolerant, and understanding of people’s requests. It is easy to make fun of people but sometimes it’s easier for the Human Resources professional to understand where the person is coming from causing the behaviors we tend to mock.

Ideally, if you have a start-up or a company hitting 50 employees that needs HR Guidance. would love to help you build your Human Resources Department.
